Katie Supplee (she/her) is an award winning documentary filmmaker, camera woman, and editor working on and around the East Coast, USA. In 2017 Supplee began her career with an internship for Diane Burko, a renowned painter, photographer, and environmental activist who became a great influence and inspiration. In 2018 Supplee began work with Burko on the gallery show “Endangered: From Glaciers to Reefs”, where she edited an experimental film about climate change that premiered as part of an exhibition at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. It is currently on display at the American University Museum in Washington, DC.
In 2019 she earned her BFA from The University of the Arts with a degree in Film, under the direction of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Wendy Weinberg. During her final year at UArts, she earned the first ever senior thesis grant from the school of film.
In 2020 her thesis film, The Last Crop, received the László Pal Emerging Filmmaker Award at Friday Harbor Film Fest, and was selected for screening at festivals including the Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival, and the Monmouth Film Festival. From 2019 to 2022 Supplee worked as a contracted camera woman for the Olympic Channel on a documentary entitled “All Around”. Currently Supplee is working as a camera woman on a new documentary film about Tanzanian amputees called “Our Lady of Staten Island” and continues to be mentored and work closely with Diane Burko.
